a ladder & trex don't mix!!

This Saturday while i was at the shop, Kevin went over to his parents home, who left on a mission a few weeks ago, to do "stuff". One of the things that needed to get done was taking down Christmas lights(i know, it's almost Easter and yes they were still up!). we just got ours down 2 weeks ago. Anyhow, so Kevin is up on the roof and Shane is inside with Cohen and the next thing you know Shane hears a HUGE crashing sound, so he goes to the front door only to see Kevin lying there, legs entwined in the steps of the ladder, ladder squashing Kevin's face, Kevin's body being smacked down on the Trex decking! Kevin said he can't recall what or how it all happened. All he knows is that the rain gutters couldn't hold him up and the neighbors didn't come running because of a noise violation, which was shocking due to the loud thundering noise the commotion had created. He said that it all sounded pretty loud in his head! He wish he would have caught it on tape because he thinks it would have been hysterically funny to see happening. he said he just laid there for a few minutes, the pain was too much to handle. Shane was worried that he had broken something. Lucky for Kevin, he hadn't. His legs were just completely swollen--he seriously looked like a pregnant women with a horrible case of toxemia--and he has some wicked-ugly bruises to show for it! This one on his inner thigh is the worst. I was going to post a picture, but due to the size of the bruised area, it was a little risque(sp?)! We can learn some lessons from this experience: 1. Don't put a ladder on Trex decking if you are going to climb up to a roof. Apparently it doesn't provide a balanced or steady surface! 2. Don't put a deck out of that trex stuff on the front of your home to replace a front porch. Who does that anyway? A front porch as far as I know is meant to be just that. 3. The average rain gutter may appear stronger than it is--don't be fooled! It can't hold the wait of a 200+ male. Poor, Poor Kevin. We hope he heals quickly!

I wish he had caught that on video! That would be one that doesn't get lived down! I hope he's ok, but picturing it, was enough to make my day!

Oh my goodness! Poor Kevin. Not only does he have bad bruises, but a bruised ego....ha ha. The things that happen when grown up boys try to do home improvements. Not long ago, Brian had to go to the ER for like 5 hours for carbon monoxide poisioning. Yep, home improvements. Just make sure you keep your health insurance! You're gonna need it. Love to All!

You know even if Kevin did make a mistake and overlook the fact of the whole trex thing, I want to thank him for taking down the lights, and doing other things at the house. I know he didn't do it on purpose and I know he will never do it again. But as for the trex porch, regaurdless of what it is, maybe we should be greatful they at least have a porch, and i must say myself it's pretty inviting. Trex is the new thing you know. It's the hottest thing to hit the yard!!!
