bumpy roads lead to happiness!

Over labor day weekend we headed up to Lyman Lake for the annual Peterson Family Stake Camp trip. We have been married for 7 years now and have never made it up. I was feeling pretty bad for never making it up, until we hit the dirt road that is...it was the worst road we have ever been on. We drove up over Elizabeth Pass and it was a mess! Somewhere along the way, we lost the kotter pin to our hitch that was holding in the trailer so every 5 minutes we had to pull over to check to see how much the trailer had slid out of the hitch. It was quite the drive. Kevin was less than pleased and my pregnant body was just tired of the BUMPS! When we arrived, some of our family was sitting outside the lodge enjoying the beautiful outdoors and asked how the drive was. Wrong question. Kevin had everyone rolling with laughter as he quickly responded that he had no idea why "you people" would waste your time coming up here every year! And even more so why the church would own property at the end of this "god-forsaken" road!! Don't worry it got better.

Kevin managed to sneak lots of great pictures of Cohen. He doesn't really like having his picture taken, so I was quite impressed. I think this one was taken right after we arrived. Pretty sure I was still on edge about the drive up! Kevin already falling in love with the beautiful surroundings and forgetting all about the drive! Grandpa Peterson telling the famous "Bazil-Getsel" story. He is the most amazing man! I think we all just soak up the time that we are able to spend with him. My cousin Heather organized this years camp and she did a fantastic job! One of the activities she planned, was dividing into 3 groups and making candy grams that told stories of the Peterson Clan. It was fun to see how different they all turned out. Cohen eating at the table?! A complete miracle! He was way too busy playing most of the time to actually sit down and eat. What a great weekend we had! It was so fun to visit with family and spend time in the quiet outdoors. Kevin enjoyed the four-wheeling, shooting and canoeing. I think he ended up having so much fun that we may be back up next year! The fact that we drove a different way home that was MUCH better, may also help my case. Hope to see everyone next year!!
